Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Alex obtained a combined Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (BSc/MBBS) at the University of Queensland in 2011. After completing his internal medicine and subspecialty training in Cairns, the Gold Coast and Sydney, Alex attained fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as a specialist gastroenterologist and hepatologist in 2018. Following this, Alex moved to the UK where he undertook a postgraduate clinical fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease in Cambridge.
Alex is a staff specialist gastroenterologist at the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he is actively involved in the education and training of junior doctors and medical students. In addition, Alex is a visiting medical officer at Pindara Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. He is certified by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) in upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, performing procedures at Pacific Private Day Surgery, Pindara Day Procedure Centre, Pindara Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital.
Alex provides care across the full spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver disease, whilst having a special interest in inflammatory bowel diseases and cancer prevention. He works alongside an experienced team of gastroenterologists at the Gold Coast Centre for Digestive Diseases, located at Brockway House in Southport. He and his staff are committed to ensuring that you receive specialised, attentive and compassionate care within a welcoming environment.
